Abstract
PAN-based precursors for carbon fibers were prepared by dry-jet wet spinning. The structure variation of PAN fibers with spinning conditions was examined by transmission electron microscopy. Defects such as micro-voids and wrinkle were found on the surfaces of the PAN fibers spun at the temperatures above 35℃. After the stabilization of the PAN fibers, some of the pyrolyzed fibers showed contaminated surfaces and holes in the central part of the fibers. The change in crystal structure before and after stabilization was confirmed by the analysis of electron diffraction patterns of the pyrolyzed PAN fibers.

탄소섬유의 원료인 폴리아크릴로니트릴(PAN) 섬유를 건습식 방사법을 이용하여 제조하고, 방사조건에 따른 PAN 섬유의 단면구조와 표면구조를 투과형 전자현미경으로 관측하였다. 고온의 응고욕에 방사한 PAN섬유들은 내부에 공소가 존재하고, 표면에 주름이 나타나며 불균질하게 되는등 결함이 많이 존재하였다. 방사한 PAN 프리커서 섬유의 열 안정화 과정에서 섬유의 표면은 오염되기도 하였으며, 열 안정화 후 섬유내부가 공동화되는 현상도 발견하였다 PAN 섬유와 열 안정화 섬유의 전자회절도를 분석하여 결정구조의 변화를 확인하였다.
