Abstract
Acrylic copolymers were synthesized from 2-diethylaminoethyl methacrylate and three kinds of alkyl methacrylates containing long chain group. To facilitate water emulsification, acrylic copolymers were cationized by acetic acid to produce acetated acrylic copolymers. The structure of the synthesized copolymers and acetated copolymers were confirmed by IR, NMR, and molecular weights were measured by GPC, and the thermal behavior were observed by thermal analysis. Acetated acrylic copolymers were perfectly emulsified in water and showed increased emulsion stability. Acrylic copolymers showed similar thermal pyrolysis behavior with PMMA and the rate of thermal pyrolysis of acetated acrylic copolymers were inversely proportional to the chain length involved, that is, in the order of C8, Cl12, Cl18.

긴사슬기를 함유한 알킬메타크릴레이트 3종류와 2-디에틸아미노에틸메타크릴레이트로 부터 아크릴 공중합체들을 합성하고, 물에 쉽게 유화시키기 위하여 아세트산으로 양이온화하여 아세트화 아크릴 공중합체들을 제조하였다. 합성된 공중합체들과 아세트화 공중합체들의 구조를 IR, NMR 등으로 확인하였고, GPC로서 각종 분자량을 산출하였으며, 열분석으로 공중합체들의 열적거동을 살펴보았다. 아세트화 아크릴 공중합체는 물에 완전유화가 가능하였고 물에 대한 유화안정성이 증진되었다. 아크릴 공중합체들은 PMMA와 유사한 열분해 거동을 보였으면, 아세트화 아크릴 공중합체들은 공중합체내의 C8, Cl12, Cl18 알킬기 중 사슬길이가 짧을수록 열분해가 빨리 일어남을 알았다.
