Using NaBH
4-diglyme and NaBH
4-CoCl
2 -diglyme systems methyl methacrylate (MMA) was polymerized alone and copolymerized with styrene. The overall activation energy of the homopolymerization reaction was found to be 11.25 Kcal/mol. The change of percent conversion and the number average molecular weight was studied in various conditions with time, temperature and concentration. The comonomer reactivity ratio of MMA(M
1 ) and styrene (M2) was found as r1=0.49, r2 =0.76 respectively by Fineman-Ross equation. The tacticity of PMMA was heterotactic in NaBH4-diglyme system and syndiotactic in NaBH4 -CoCl2-diglyme system. From above results, the mechanism of polymerization was discussed and concluded that in NaBH4 system the polymerization was proceeded through the interaction between monomer and catalyst and in NaBH4-CoCl2 system that was initiated through radical mechanism.
NaBH4와 NaBH4-CoCl2 혼합물을 개시제로 하여 diglyme 용매중에서 methyl methacrylate를 중합하고 중합시간과 중합온도 및 개시제의 농도에 따른 중합변환율과 분자량변화, 중합속도식, 겉보기 총활성화 에너지 및 최대수율을 제공하는 임계농도비 [CoCl2]/[NaBH4]를 측정하였다. 혼합촉매를 이용하여 styrene과의 공중합을 실시하고 또한 단일 중합체의 tacticity를 조사하였으며 끝으로 얻어진 결과들을 종합하여 단일중합반응 기구에 대해 고찰하였다.
