Abstract
Morphology and electro-optic properties of composite films composed of poly(styrene-co-maleic anhydride)(SMA) and nematic liquid crystal have been studied for a wide range(30∼70wt% of liquid crystal) of film composition. Effects of temperature, frequency and voltage of applied AC electric field on the transmittance were measured for film containing 60 and 70wt% LC, where the optical contrast was maximum, and the results were interpreted in terms of aggregation structure of the film, the geometry of LC domains, dielectric constant, conductivity, birefringence, and the solubility of LC in polymer.
SMA와 nematic형 액정으로 이루어진 복합막에 대하여 넓은 막조성(30∼70 액정중량%)에 걸쳐서 morphology 및 optical contrast를 측정하였다. 또한 액정조성이 60% 및 70%인 복합막에 대해서는 온도, 주파수, 및 전압에 따른 전기광학특성을 측정하였으며, 그 결과를 film의 응집상태, 액정 domain의 크기, 유전상수, 전도도, 복굴절 및 용해성 등으로 설명하였다.
