The plasma-initiated polymerization of acrylamide in aqueous solution was investigated. The plasma initiation was carried out by a high-frequency generator and the polymer formation process follows the free-radical polymerization mechanism. Several factors which affect the polymerization such as monomer concentrations, plasma durations, post-polymerization temperatures and post-polymerization time were investigated. Dilatometer was used to measure the conversion and the rate of polymerization. The initial rate of polymerization was 10-4 mole/liter-sec to 10-6 mole/liter-sec under various reaction conditions.
고주파 발생장치(High-frequency generator)를 사용하여 발생되는 플라즈마(plasma)를 이용하여 acrylamide(AAM)수용액을 플라즈마 개시중합(plasma-initiated polymerization)하였다. 플라즈마 개시에 의한 중합은 free-radical기구에 의하여 진행되고, 중합에 영향을 미치는 인자인 단량체 농도, 플라즈마 조사시간, 후중합 온도 및 후중합 시간에 대하여 연구하였다. 고분자의 전환율을 이용한 전반응 속도를 측정하기 위하여 dilatometer를 사용하였고 여러가지 반응 조건하에서의 전반응 속도는 10-4mole/liter-sec에서 10-6mole/liter-sec의 값을 나타내었다.
