Abstract
Chitosan was prepared from chitin which was abstracted from the bone of cuttlefish. It was then grafted with acrylic acid by using ceric ammonium nitrate (CAN) as a reaction initiator. The grafted copolymer demonstrated an excellent ability of flocculation in both acidic and basic aqueous solutions exhibiting its zwitter ionic character. cationic and anionic. The grafted copolymer showed its superiority to the homopolymer of acrylic acid in the flocculation effect when it has the same molecular weight with that of the homopolymer. The efficiency of the grafted copolymer in flocculation increased with its Mv. and it showed the highest efficiency at pH 10 when it was used with Al2(SO4)3.

갑 오징어의 뼈로부터 chitin을 분리하여 chitosan을 제조한 후 ceric ammonium nitrate (CAN)를 사용하여 acrylic acid를 그라프트 공중합시켰다. 얻어진 그라프트 공중합체는 양이온 및 음이온성의 양쪽성 응집성을 나타내었으며, 그라프트 공중합체와 acrylic acid 단일 중합체의 분자량이 거의 같을 경우 전자가 훨씬 우수한 응집력을 나타내었다. 또한 합성한 그라프트 공중합체의 분자량이 증가할수록 콜은 응집력을 나타내었고, Al2 (SO4)3와 병용 사용한 경우에는 pH 10 정도에서 가장 좋은 응집력을 나타내었다.
