Abstract
Unidirectional fibre-resin composites were fabricated from the phenolic resin and the oxidized PAN fibres(48.8 vol.%), and the composites were carbonized by heating up to 400, 600, 800 and 1000℃ at the same heating rate of 5℃/ hr The oxidized PAN fibres were prepared by being partially oxidized at 230℃ for 4 hrs in a forced air oven. The cross-sections of the carbonized composites were observed by SEM. The SEM showed that a chemical reaction apparently took place from below 400℃ at interface of fibre and resin during the carbonization of the composites. A lot of cracks were observed at reinforced fibres in the composites which were carbonized up to 1000℃ From the results, it was suggested that pyrolysis gas came out not from between fibre and matrix interface but along the axis of the fibre.

페놀수지와 산화된 PAN 섬유로부터 단일방향 green composite를 적층 성형하였다(섬유분율 ; 48.8vol.%). 그리고 이 composite을 가열속도 5℃/hr로 최종 탄화온도가 400, 600, 800 및 1000℃까지 불환성 분위기에서 탄화했다. 본 실험에서 사용한 섬유는 230℃로 4시간 동안 공기순환식 건조기에서 부분적으로 산화처리된 PAN 섬유이다. 탄화된 composite 의 단면을 SEM 으로 관찰하였으며, 이 composite 들이 탄화되는 농안 400℃ 이하에서 섬유와 수지의 경계면에 화학반응이 일어났음을 보였다. 또한 1000℃까지 탄화된 composite 속에 보강된 섬유에서 많은 crack이 관찰되었으며, 이것은 탄화될때 발생되는 분해기체가 섬유와 기질사이로 방출되지 못하고 섬유의 축을 따라 나왔음을 시사한다.
