Electrically conductive polymer, polyaxine(I)[(C=N-N=C)
n] and polyazine(Ⅱ)[(C-C=N-N)
n)
n] were prepared by condensation reaction of hydrazine hydrate with glyoxal on water, and with terephthaldialdehyde in methanol respectively. Degrees of polymerization was studied by varing temperature and concetration of reactants. The presence of polyaxine structure in products was identified by a charateristic peak of-C=N-group in IR spectra at 1620-1640cm. It was found that both polyazine(Ⅰ) and polyazine(Ⅱ) are insoluble in thirty kinds of solvents. Electrical conductivites of polyazines measured by a 4-point probe DC method were comparable to that of polyacetylene(PA).
