Abstract
A new monomer, N-vinyl-2,2-dimethyl-4-oxazolidone was synthesized by dehydration of N-(2''-hydroxyethyl)-2,2-dimethyl-4-oxazolidone and was polymerized radically in benzene (65% conversion). The polymer was soluble in various organic solvent such as benzene, CHCl3, methanol, ethanol, CCl4, but not in H2O. Complexation with iodine of this polymer was studied in 16% aq. ethanol solution with increasing the polymer concentrations. Being different from poly(N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone), poly(N-vinyl-2,2-dimethyl-4-oxazolidone) failed to show any complexation with iodine.

새로운 단량체인, N-비닐-2-,2-디메틸-4-옥사졸리돈을 N-(2''히드록시에틸)-2,2-디메틸-4-옥사졸리돈의 탈수 반응에 의해서 합성하였으며, 자유라디칼 개시제를 사용하여 65%의 수율로 중합체를 얻는데 성공하였다. 이 중합체는 벤젠, 클로로포름, 메탄올 및 사염화 탄소 등의 여러 유기 용매를 잘 용해되었으나 물에는 용해되지 않았다. 또한 이 중합체와 요오드의 착물 형성 실험을 16% 에탄올 수용액에서 중합체의 농도를 증가시켜가면서 조사하였으나 폴리(N-비닐-2-피톨리돈)과는 달리, 요오드와 착물 형성을 하지 않음을 알 수 있었다.
