Silyl group-containing acrylic resins were synthesized to prepare weather resistant coatings. Acrylic copolymer was synthesized by the addition copolymerization of n-butyl methacrylate, methyl methacrylate, n-butyl acrylate and 3-methacryloxypropyl trimethoxysilane (MPTS). Acrylic copolymer were synthesized such that their T-g's were adjusted to 20 degreesC and their MPTS contents were varied to 10, 20 and 30 wt%. As the content of MPTS increased, viscosity of coatings increased and thermal stability at the high temperature was improved. Coatings was prepared by blending the synthesized resins with a white pigment. The adhesion performance of coatings was superior with various substrates and their other properties were on the whole suitable. Weatherability was tested by outdoor exposure test, WOM test and QUV test. It was proved that resin with 30 wt% MPTS was suitable as the binder for weather resistant coatings.
고내후성 시릴기를 함유하는 아크릴수지 도료를 제조할 목적으로, 먼저 아크릴수지를 단량체 n-butyl methacrylate, methyl methacrylate, n-butyl acrylate 및 3-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane (MPTS)을 사용하여 이들을 부가중합시켜 얻었다. 아크릴 공중합체의 T(g)를 20 ℃로 조정하면서 MPTS 함량을 10, 20, 30 wt%로 변화시켜 합성하였다. 아크릴 합성에서 실리콘 성분인 MPTS 양이 많아질수록 점성도가 저하되었으며, 고온에서의 열적 안정성은 향상되었다. 한편 합성된 아크릴수지를 백색안료와 블렌드하여 도료를 제조한 후 도막물성을 시험한 결과, 여러 가지 피도물에 대하여 우수한 접착력을 보였고 기타의 물성들도 대체로 좋게 나타났다. 내후성 시험은 옥외폭로시험, WOM 및 QUV의 3종류로 하였는데, 각종 측정 수치로 보아 MPTS 함량 30 wt%인 아크릴수지 도료는 고내후성 도료임이 확인되었다.
