Abstract
In this study, unsaturated polyester/silica composites for insulating material have been prepared. Isophthalate-type unsaturated polyester was compounded with SiO2 as an inorganic filler and the resultant compound was compuond was cured by peroxide in the presence of cobalt octoate. The effects of the addition of the silane coupling agent on the electrical properties and mechanical properties of the composites were investigated. The composites were cured at room temperature for 24 hrs and then post-cured at 80℃ for 24 hrs. It was found that the mechanical properties such as flexural and tensile strength and electrical properties were optimum when 4 wt.% of silane coupling agent was applied. The composites were found to be good insulators for their low thermal expansivity(27㎛/m K) and their low tanδ(<3%) and relative permittivity values(εr=2∼7), which were not changed significantly with the contents of the silane coupling agents.

절연용 불포화 폴리에스테르/실리카 복합재료를 제조하고 실리카 표면처리 효과를 알기 위해 실란 결합제의 적용량을 변화시면서 기계적 및 전기적 특성 변화를 조사하였다. 불포화 폴리에스테르 복합재료는 상온에서 24시간 동안 코발트옥테이트 존재하에서 과산화물로 경화시킨 후 80℃에서 24시간 2차 경화시켰다. 불포화 폴리에스테르/실리카 복합재료의 제작에 있어, 실란 결합제 4wt%를 처리함으로 해서 절연저항 및 굴곡 및 인장 등의 기계적 강도를 향상시킬 수 있었다. 복합재료의 tan δ값은 3% 이하, 비유전율(εr)은 2∼7정도의 값으로 silane 계면 결합제의 함량에 따라서는 거의 변화가 없는 양상을 보였으며 복합힙재료의 열팰창계수는 27㎛/m K로서 대체적으로 좋은 절연체로 판정될 수 있었다.
